harley davidson accessory kit?

A Reader Asks…

My grandpa seen a Harley Davision today that he said looked like it had giant training wheels on the back. He talked to the people that owned it they told him what it was, but he forgot the name of it. So he wants me to look it up but i don’t really have anything to go on. So any names that fit the kit description or whatever would be nice. thanx.

Harley built trikes from the factory for many years. They called them Servo- Cars. There are after market kits you can buy to convert modern bikes, but they require some pretty intense labor to do correctly.

where is the accessory plug on a 2001 harley davidson roadking?

Posted on September 28th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

A Reader Asks…

I want to put a colored lizard light kit on my 2001 Harley Roadking. I don’t have a manual and I need to know where the accessory plug is on my bike.

This site (see sources) mentions an accessory plug under the seat for electrical hook ups, but the ride is a Road Glide. The site
has a listing for a Road King, but no mention of an accessory plug.

It appears if there is no plug under the seat, you may need to add the plug, but if you’re going to do that, you may as well just wire your accessory to the battery or fuse box, unless you have many different accessories you want powered from time to time.

Good Luck and get out your tools. I’ve seen accessory plug add-ons for $30 to $50.

Accessory switch that keeps turning off the power.

A Reader Asks….

I have a Harley softail that has an accessory switch that keeps turning off the power. How do I tighten it?

the accessory switch is loose and when I turn it on the bike fires and runs, but while running the switch shuts off. The bike still runs but I have no lights. How do you tighten or adjust it?

Replace the Switch. It wouldn’t cost much, and it is easy to replace. Safer, cheaper and it will resolve the problem. Just go in to the shop and have them order one for you if they don’t have one onsite. Over looking this is not good, soon something else will break down, then you will have a host of problems.

Good Luck

Where to look for inexpensive Harley apparel/accessories?

Posted on September 20th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

A Reader Asks….

My boyfriend just bought a Harley-Davidson Sportster and we have been riding a lot lately, but we need some more Harley clothing and other things. We went to a HD shop to look but t-shirts run from 25 bucks on up to 60! I am unwilling to spend that much for one t-shirt! Does anyone know where to find Harley stuff at a better price? I’ve already looked at Amazon.com and have found a few things but not enough.
You can’t purchase anything from the Harley-Davidson website, it tells you to go to a HD dealer. I’ve been there, done that.

E-bay is also an alternative. Go to dealership try different apparel on for size then bid away when you see what you want.
