Harley Accessories

Posted on October 7th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

If you own a Harley or you know someone who owns a Harley, chances are that you or they probably own quite a few different Harley accessories as well. I know I sure do, not only does my Softail Springer live in the lounge when I’m not out riding it, but everywhere you seem to look there are more Harley accessories. It’s addictive, it’s well designed good looking and its top quality stuff and I don’t care if it’s the bike we’re talking about, the clock on the wall or the jacket hanging off the apes, it all looks good.

I mean Harley Davidson has been around for 105 years and it’s still going strong, from its humble beginnings in a family basement to the worldwide fame and success it now boasts. Harley’s are in a league of their own, and the kind of people who ride them come from all walks of life. You still get the stereotypical view that only bad ass bikers ride Harleys but it’s no longer true, in fact I don’t know if it ever really was true, but anyway, nowadays it’s not unusual to see top notch business men riding them, old men, young men and even women too. They have worldwide popularity and have a large following by dedicated enthusiasts that would never own anything but a Harley Davidson, and who can blame them.

Harley accessories cover everything from the Harley parts and accessories on the bike itself, right through to Harley clothing, Harley books, Harley memorabilia, ornaments, bedding, crockery, Harley baby clothing and products, you name it, and they make it basically.

If you truly are an avid Harley Davidson fan, you will probably already have this book, but if you don’t, here’s my first bit of advice, don’t sit there thinking about it, don’t sit there wasting time, buy it now, it is an unreal book, I hate books, but I love this one, it’s 100 Years Of Harley Davidson. And you won’t be disappointed, it has some of the best pictures and info about how Harley Davidson grew to what it is today. Never stick it away in a cupboard, instead leave it on the bar or coffee table, you’ll be surprised and how many people including yourself will always be looking through it and reading it. It is one of the must have Harley accessories if you love Harleys.

So this is my blog on Harley accessories of all different types and categories and if you or someone you know is into Harleys, then bookmark my blog and leave me your comments and keep checking back regularly. Because my blog is going to grow and develop and there should constantly be plenty of new and interesting stuff being added on here, so keep coming back and checking what else is on here and say hi to me, leave comments, I don’t bite…..much.

Alright, cheers and keep the shinny side up!

harley davidson accessory kit?

Posted on October 4th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

A Reader Asks…

My grandpa seen a Harley Davision today that he said looked like it had giant training wheels on the back. He talked to the people that owned it they told him what it was, but he forgot the name of it. So he wants me to look it up but i don’t really have anything to go on. So any names that fit the kit description or whatever would be nice. thanx.

Harley built trikes from the factory for many years. They called them Servo- Cars. There are after market kits you can buy to convert modern bikes, but they require some pretty intense labor to do correctly.

How much does your Harley weigh?

Posted on September 30th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

A Reader Asks: How Much Does Your Harley Weigh?

I actually got the opportunity to weigh my Road king the other day - it was 842 pounds. This included about 3/4 tank of gas, and a few things in my saddlebags, but I think the bulk of the extra weight over and above the factory spec came from many of the aftermarket accessories I’ve added to the bike. I can’t believe people actually want to ride Japanese sport bikes when they weigh less than half of what my bike weighs - what a joke!. So do you know what your bike weighs?

yeah, my bike weighs about half what yours does, any time you want to got to the track let me know and I’ll show you why jap sport is better than HD.

Look at a more important figure, out of that 850lbs, you get what 100 h.p. … maybe, and in my 400lbs, I’ve got oh 175!

hmmmm…. almost twice the power and less than half the weight, I can’t see why anyone would want that!

oh, and if we end up in the grill of a semi, your 850 isn’t gonna do any better than my 400.

I don’t know why you guys even try any more!

(I can only get about 90 in first … btw)

where is the accessory plug on a 2001 harley davidson roadking?

Posted on September 28th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

A Reader Asks…

I want to put a colored lizard light kit on my 2001 Harley Roadking. I don’t have a manual and I need to know where the accessory plug is on my bike.

This site (see sources) mentions an accessory plug under the seat for electrical hook ups, but the ride is a Road Glide. The site
has a listing for a Road King, but no mention of an accessory plug.

It appears if there is no plug under the seat, you may need to add the plug, but if you’re going to do that, you may as well just wire your accessory to the battery or fuse box, unless you have many different accessories you want powered from time to time.

Good Luck and get out your tools. I’ve seen accessory plug add-ons for $30 to $50.

Accessory switch that keeps turning off the power.

Posted on September 24th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

A Reader Asks….

I have a Harley softail that has an accessory switch that keeps turning off the power. How do I tighten it?

the accessory switch is loose and when I turn it on the bike fires and runs, but while running the switch shuts off. The bike still runs but I have no lights. How do you tighten or adjust it?

Replace the Switch. It wouldn’t cost much, and it is easy to replace. Safer, cheaper and it will resolve the problem. Just go in to the shop and have them order one for you if they don’t have one onsite. Over looking this is not good, soon something else will break down, then you will have a host of problems.

Good Luck

Where to look for inexpensive Harley apparel/accessories?

Posted on September 20th, 2008 by admin in harley accessories

A Reader Asks….

My boyfriend just bought a Harley-Davidson Sportster and we have been riding a lot lately, but we need some more Harley clothing and other things. We went to a HD shop to look but t-shirts run from 25 bucks on up to 60! I am unwilling to spend that much for one t-shirt! Does anyone know where to find Harley stuff at a better price? I’ve already looked at Amazon.com and have found a few things but not enough.
You can’t purchase anything from the Harley-Davidson website, it tells you to go to a HD dealer. I’ve been there, done that.

E-bay is also an alternative. Go to dealership try different apparel on for size then bid away when you see what you want.
